In my opinion, whatever your language pairs are as a translator, you should be more or less familiar with English. It's like if you are a musician, whatever instrument you play, you are always (at least, in most schools) are required to know how to play piano. Or whatever stroke is your best, you should always improve and work on your crawl as a swimmer.
